BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle division of German company BMW, has unveield G 310 GS at EICMA show in Milan on November 8. The G 310 GS is the adventure version of the G 310 R and both are simply the most awaited model from BMW in India. BMW Motorrad is yet to start India operation which is expected in early 2017. The G 310 R and the latest G 310 GS will fetch volume sales for the company. Here are 10 things you need to know about the G 310 GS coming to India.
-BMW G 310 GS and the G 310 R are developed jointly by Indo-German alliance of BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company started in 2013.
-G 310 GS will be manufactured at TVS Motor Company's Hosur plant for domestic as well as foreign market.
-G 310 GS will be one of the most affordable BMW bikes that you can buy. It has been rumoured with a starting price of Rs 2.0 lakh, ex-showroom.
-G 310 GS borrows design cues from the elder sibling, the BMW R 1200 GS. It features a newly-designed fairing, the 'GS' moniker on the fuel tank, off-road friendly tyres and a new engine cowl.
-Powering G 310 GS is the 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that also does duty in the G 310 R. The mill will develop 33.5bhp at 9,500rpm and maximum torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox.
-Being a member of GS family specialising on off-road rides, the G 310 GS' forks has a travel of 180mm, 49mm more than the G 310 R, while at the rear the shock travel is also increased to 180mm, up from 40mm.
-The G 310 GS is offered with optional luggage carrier, top box, centre stand, LED indicators, heated grips, tank bag, GPS support and GPS Navigator, all spot on for off-road rides.
-G 310 GS comes with Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) as standard. Most of the rivals in this segment are being offered ABS as optional.
-The G 310 GS measures 2075mm in length, 880mm in width and 1,230mmin height. It weighs 169.5kg and has a wheelbase of 1,420mm.
-BMW Motorrad has confirmed India launch of the G 310 GS in the second half of 2017 after the launch of G 310 R in April-May time.
