German car-maker BMW launched a variant of the 5 Series sedan, the 520d M Sport, at Rs. 54 lakh, ex-showroom, on Tuesday. The sportier M Sport diesel variant is locally produced at the BMW plant in Chennai.
The BMW 520d M Sport comes with 18-inch M light alloys featuring a double spoke design. The 520d M Sport also flaunts a sporty front and rear bumpers, side skirts, exhaust pipe finishers in dark chrome, and a diffuser. The sedan features M badges on front fenders and adaptive LED headlamps. It is available in Alpine White shade as non-metallic paintwork while Mediterranean Blue and Carbon Black are available in metallic paintwork.
The sedan comes with electrically adjustable sports front seats in leather upholstery for the driver and the passenger. The interior also features M multifunction steering wheel, hexagon interior trim strip and BMW individual headliner.
The 520d M Sport is powered by a 1995cc twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine. The common rail direct injection engine with VGT turbo delivers 188bhp of power and a torque of 400Nm mated to eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The sedan requires just 7.7 seconds to reach 100kmph from stand still before hitting top speed of 233kmph.
BMW 520d M Sport also comes with Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO modes (ECOPRO, Comfort, Sport) and Brake-energy regeneration. The sedan features six air bags, Anti-Lock braking system, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Side-impact Protection, electronic vehicle immobiliser and crash sensor.
