BlackBerry Q5, the mid-range QWERTY-based smartphone which was globally unveiled in May, is reportedly setting its foot into the Indian market this month.
Media house First Post citing market sources revealed that BlackBerry Q5 will make its India debut on 16 July with price-tag of around ₹25,000, almost ₹20,000 less than the QWERTY keypad based elder-cousin BlackBerry Q10 which was released last month for ₹44,990.
BlackBerry Q5 sports a 3.1-inch TFT LCD screen with 720x720p display resolution and runs on the BB10 OS powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. It packs 2GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt memory which can be further expanded up to 64GB.
In terms of photography aspects, BlackBerry Q5 houses a descent 5.0-megapixel camera on the rear side which can record full HD 1080p video. It also flaunts a 2.0-megapixel secondary snapper that can record HD 720p video.
Apart from the plastic back-panel and camera feature, BlackBerry Q5 makes a smart buy as it packs pretty much the same internal components that are featured in the expensive sibling Q10. But considering the other smartphones in the Indian market, Q5 will face stiff challenge from domestic players - Micromax, Karbonn and LAVA as well as from global brands like Samsung, Nokia, Sony and LG.
