Canadian handset maker BlackBerry has begun taking pre-orders for its yet-to-be released QWERTY keypad based Q5 smartphone in India.
Prospective buyers can head to BlackBerry India's official website to get details regarding nearest authorised sellers to pre-book the BlackBerry Q5 which is expected to get released on 16 July with a price-tag of around ₹25,000.
BlackBerry Q5 sports a 3.1-inch TFT LCD screen with 720x720p display resolution with a QWERTY keypad covering rest of the smartphone.
The new phone is the third BlackBerry device to hit the market with BB10 OS inside. Q5 packs a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor paired with 2GB RAM and 8GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 64GB.
BlackBerry Q5 houses a 5.0-megapixel main camera on the rear side that can record full HD 1080p video and a 2.0-megapixel secondary camera capable of recording 720p HD video.
Considering the specifications and its expected price-tag, BlackBerry Q5 will have a tough time competing with LG's Google Nexus 4, Sony Xperia ZR, Samsung Galaxy S3 and the recently released Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy S4 Mini, all of which fall in the same price bracket.
