BlackBerry on Tuesday announced the release of the Android Marshmallow update to the flagship smartphone Priv.
After taking a month for beta testing, the software update has been made available via Over-The-Air (OTA) to all unlocked BlackBerry Priv devices, which were bought through Shop BlackBerry.com, whereas the contract-based devices will receive the firmware from May 3 onwards.
"Keeping with BlackBerry's focus on security, we've been able to not only leverage the enhanced privacy, security and usability features that come with Marshmallow, but also to bring several additional improvements to key product features," Vicki C Walker, spokeswoman for BlackBerry, said in a statement.

Since the OTA roll-out process is carried out in phases, it will take som time to reach all corners of the world.

In addition to all the goodies of Android Marshmallow, BlackBerry has incorporated security updates such as Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME) and customised personal data permission option.
Other features include enhanced cursor control, improved word prediction, new keyboard gestures, updated BlackBerry launcher, mute indicator, more Emojis, slow motion video option in camera app more social media apps, including Instagram, Skype, Slack and Pinterest, are now integrated in BlackBerry Hub, media card encryption support and more.
