Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry, in collaboration with IBM and Samsung, has launched new a device SecuTABLET at the ongoing tech fair CeBIT 2015 in Germany.
"National and international government customers have entrusted their voice and data communications with the Secusmart Security Card for years. This same technology is what secures the new SecuTABLET," said Dr. Hans-Christoph Quelle, CEO of Secusmart GmbH, a BlackBerry company.
"Working alongside IBM and Samsung, we have added the last link in the chain of the Federal Security Network. Subject to certification of the SecuTABLET, German government agencies will have a new way to access BlackBerry's most secure and complete communications network in the world," he added.
The new tablet is soon expected get certified from German Federal Office for Information Security for the German VS-NfD. Besides the BlackBerry's SecuSmart features, the device comes with IBM's own set of softwares to protect the personal apps like Facebook, Twitter and other social network sites.
If a user unknowingly installs a malware/spyware, they will be effectively quarantined by IBM apps securing all the sensitive data in the tablet, reported The Verge.
For the uninitiated, SecuTABLET is a re-branded version of the Samsung's flagship slate Galaxy Tab S 10.5 . It flaunts high-resolution super AMOLED WQXGA (2560x1600p) display boasting a finger-print sensor right on the home button.
Other mentionable feature is that it ships with Android v4.4 KitKat OS powered by Exynos 5 Octa (1.9 GHz Quad-core + 1.3 GHz Quad-core) /Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.3 GHz Quad-core SoC (System on Chip), 3GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory.
As of now, neither BlackBerry nor Samsung have announced when the new SecuTABLET will hit global market. Even the price of the device is under wraps.
