BlackBerry is making extreme efforts to stand firm as a smartphone company in the compact industry. The launch of BlackBerry Classic reignited the hope for the ailing company and it is making the most of it. After originally launching the Classic smartphone with a buy-back offer for BlackBerry Bold owners, the company is extending the exchange on all of its models.
Available through Snapdeal in India, BlackBerry Classic can be bought for a discounted price if you are willing to trade your existing BlackBerry smartphone. The popular online retailer has fixed prices for various models.
The BlackBerry Bold 4 9900 and Bold 5 9790 will fetch buyback value of ₹4,500 while the older Bold 1 9000, Bold 2 9700 and Bold 3 9780 will get up to ₹2,500. Any other BlackBerry model will get as much as ₹2,000.
Snapdeal is further offering a limited time offer for the first 1,000 buyers of the Classic smartphone, who can get gift vouchers worth ₹10,000 from Yatra.com. As per the product listing on Snapdeal, BlackBerry Classic is selling for ₹31,990, but the discounts drop the price of the handset by at least ₹2,000. The buyback amount will not be discounted from the product's original price, but will be credited directly to the buyer's bank account after verification.
BlackBerry Classic doesn't match up to the most flagship smartphones from other brands but it brings the good old BlackBerry feel. It has a 3.5-inch touch display with 720x720 pixel resolution with a QWERTY keyboard and an optical trackpad.
It is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, an 8mp rear shooter with flash and a 2mp front snapper. The microSD card slot supports up to 128GB and the handset runs BlackBerry OS 10.3.1. There's also a 2,515mAh battery that promises nearly 12 hours of 3G talk time or 17.2 hours on 2G.
If the handset's promising design tempts you, Snapdeal has it listed and available on its official website.
