BJP MP Poonam Mahajan has sought the demolition of an "illegal" ramp outside the Bandra home of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Mahajan wrote to the Mumbai municipal commissioner seeking the dismantling of the structure citing obstruction of traffic and other difficulties for residents in the area.
"The residents of the area have for long been complaining about the chaos and traffic build up there due to the ramp. Thus, I have written a letter to Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sitaram Kunte to demolish that illegal ramp. We need to look at this issue legally and lawfully follow the procedures as we are supposed to do as a government," Mahajan told PTI.
In her letter dated 29 January, Mahajan told the BMC that the illegally constructed ramp near Khan's bungalow Mannat is causing "permanent obstruction to people accessing the public road".
The residents have claimed that the ramp is obstructing them from using a section of the road and has blocked the way to the stairs leading to Mount Mary church.
"The ramp is known to be used by the bungalow owner to park his private heavy motor vehicle. In view of the safety and convenience of citizens, I request you to undertake demolition of the illegal ramp on cement road," the letter stated.
