Two unidentified men opened fire at BJP MLA Jitendra Singh Shunty outside his house in Delhi early on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred at around 5:30am when two men came on a bike and asked Shunty to come out of his house for some paper work. Shunty was attacked when he refused to attend to their demands.
"My doorbell rang several times. When I went out to see, there were two men who wanted me to attest some papers. When I resisted, one of them held my collar and then took out a gun. As I tried to fight back, he opened fire," NDTV quoted Shunty as saying.
When one of the men wearing a helmet started to shoot, Shunty ran back to his house escaping unhurt. Police said the men fired three rounds of shots at Shunty before fleeing away from the incident spot.
"When he started shooting I moved back and the bullet hit my door. I then ran to my neighbour's house and he was still shooting at me. He must have shot at me at least 3 to 4 times. I have no grudges against anyone. Everything can be seen on the CCTV footage," IBNLive quoted Shunty.
An FIR has been registered and the attackers are being identified with the help of a video footage recorded in CCTV camera installed outside Shunty's house.
