While DC fans prepare for the release of Aquaman and Shazam!, Warner Bros is occupied with the pre-production of Birds of Prey. It was previously confirmed that the anti-hero movie will feature Harley Quinn, Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain and Renee Montoya in crucial roles.
The production house has now confirmed that Black Mask will play the villain in the movie.
According to The Wrap, the Gotham City villain and renowned Batman villain will make a grand debut in Birds of Prey. The site reports that character was created by Doug Moench and Tom Mandrake and made his first appearance in August 1985's Batman issue #386.
In the comics, Black Mask uses his wealth to create a powerful criminal organisation with the aim of revenge. He wears a skull-shaped mask to hide his identity and with the help of smarts, gadgets, and extreme physical training, he wins his battles.
He is considered as the dark mirror of Batman. Now that we know Black Mask will be seen fighting against Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and the team, fans are eager to know which actor will get on board and dawn the mask.
Meanwhile, Discussing Film claims that they have the potential synopsis of the upcoming DC movie. The blog reports that the plot revolves around saving "Cassandra Cain from an evil crime lord."
"After splitting up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord." Although it is a rumoured plot, it does tie the three women together to Cassandra Cain.
The production house is still hunting for their perfect Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain and Renee Montoya. Omega Underground has previously reported that WB is considering Alexandra Daddario for the role of Huntress and Jodie Comer, Blake Lively and Vanessa Kirby for Black Canary.
Cathy Yan will be directing Birds of Prey. The movie is written by Christina Hodson. Margot Robbie returns as Harley Quinn and production is expected to start in early 2019.
