"My Tree Challenge", which was popularised by megastar Mammootty is gaining momentum day by day. Now, Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu has taken up the challenge and nominated Mohanlal and Hrithik Roshan.
Bipasha came to know about "My Tree Challenge" while she was shooting for her latest flick "Alone" in Alappuzha, Kerala. She expressed her interest to accept the challenge and planted a Mango sapling at the shooting location.
"So for the 'My Tree Challenge', I would like to nominate Mohanlalji that he should accept the challenge and plant a tree. I also challenge all the students from my school Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Calcutta and Hrithik Roshan," said Bipasha to Mathrubhumi News. [Watch Video Here]
Bipasha also expressed her interest to do a Malayalam film, but confessed that language barrier is something that is stopping her from doing it.
Mammootty shared the news of Bipasha's effort though his Facebook page and asked everyone to spread the word.
"Let's spread the word. Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu with "My Tree Challenge". Now she challenge Mohanlal and Hrithik Roshan to join the green revolution," the actor posted.
Mammootty's challenge has gained more popularity and is taken up by many celebrities and fans. He recently popularised this campaign in Dubai by planting a tamarind sapling at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The mission is now taken up by many companies and governmental organizations in the UAE.
Earlier, Tamil actors Suriya and Vijay had accepted Mammootty's challenge. Suriya had planted a coconut sapling and nominated Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, Kannada actor Sudeep and Telugu actor Mahesh Babu.
Meanwhile, Vijay welcomed the challenge in a bigger scale. He decided to plant 25,000 saplings and has challenged school children to accept the challenge.
Many celebrities, including Nivin Pauly, Aju Varghese, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Rima Kallingal, Aashiq Abu, Ranjith Shankar, Alphonse Putharen, Jude Anthany Joseph, and Renjini Haridas have also taken up the challenge.
"My Tree Challenge" is a noble initiative and a new eco-revolution movement started by environment enthusiasts Abdul Manaf, an entrepreneur and Imthias Kadeer, a travel photographer. It was actor Fahadh Faasil who nominated Mammootty for the challenge.
The followers of this noble challenge are now eagerly waiting for the rest of the celebrities to accept it and be an inspiration for others.
