A ticking sound emanating from under a bridge on North Koel River in Ketaki village of Aurangabad district in Bihar led to a bomb scare on Tuesday morning.
The villagers immediately alerted the Bihar police about the object on hearing the sound coming from under the bridge and spotting a wire connected to the object.
Soon after receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
The bomb disposal squad from Dehri in Rohtas district was called to defuse the "bomb", which turned out to be a table clock wrapped in a cloth, Jagran (Hindi) reported.
SP Rajesh Bharti said it was the handiwork of some miscreants who had mischievously placed the clock under the bridge and left a wire hanging from the table clock.
It triggered panic among the villagers as the North Koel bridge was earlier blown by Maoists five years ago.
