Bihar's ruling JD-U on Monday expelled Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi from the party for six years, chief whip Shrawan Kumar said.
"(JD-U national president) Sharad Yadav has expelled Manjhi from the party for anti-party activities," said Shrawan Kumar, who is considered close to Nitish Kumar.
Nitish Kumar was re-elected JD-U legislature party leader on Saturday.
Kumar told IANS that party has also informed Governor Keshri Nath Tripathi about the party's decision that Manjhi has been expelled from the JD-U.
"Manjhi is no longer with JD-U. It is final," he said.
Kumar said that Manjhi is no longer a JD-U legislator after party has expelled him.
Manjhi arrived in Patna from Delhi on Monday, a day after he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and announced that he won't resign. He said he will prove majority in the state assembly.
