The West Champaran police have detained a man carrying an air gun at Rahul Gandhi's Bihar rally on Saturday morning, said reports.
The local police have reportedly launched an investigation into the matter.
"A bearded man with an air gun was detained. His air gun was seized along with his bag," a district police official told IANS.
The Congress vice-president is holding a rally in Champaran district in view of the state assembly election in the state to be held next month. This is the second big rally after 'Swabhiman Rally' in Patna on 30 August. He is accompanied by Rajya Sabha opposition leader Gulam Nabi Azad.
However, other Grand Mahagatbandhan Alliance leader including Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav will not attend the public meeting as they are busy with finalisation of candidates.
JD(U) General Secretary K C Tyagi will represent the Bihar CM at the rally, while the RJD supremo has sent his son Tejaswi Yadav on his behalf.
Later, sources said that the Bihar chief minister met Gandhi at Patna Airport on Saturday morning.
JDU, RJD and Congress are expected to announce the first list of candidates for the state election at 5pm on Saturday.
