Kamal Haasan is being paid a bomb to make his television debut as an anchor with Bigg Boss Tamil. The Universal Star is hosting the first season of the reality show to be aired on Star Vijay.
If rumours are to be believed, Kamal Haasan is getting Rs 15 crore to host Bigg Boss Tamil. It is not clear whether the said amount is paid for just for the first season or as a package for a few seasons.
In the first season, Kamal Haasan will be part of close to 30 episodes. The actor will be taking break from his regular film commitments during the weekends. As per the industry, he gets over Rs 18 crore per movie as remuneration.
"It's not new, to begin with. Hosting is a new job, yes. It is like saying 'you're doing a villain's role and how is it different.' For me, it's a role. I've been playing a particular kind of character and when I play a villain, it's a different emotion. The modus operandi of this particular job is slightly different but mostly, it is the same," Kamal Haasan was quoted as saying by The Hindu when asked about his first assignment as a TV host.
However, the salary is comparatively less to that drawn by Salman Khan, the host of Bigg Boss Hindi. Bollywood media claims that Colors pay over Rs 5 crore per episode alone. The Hindi version has a bigger reach and his salary could be justified.
In Kannada, Kiccha Sudeep gets paid over Rs 5 crore per season.
Meanwhile, the hunt for the contestants for Bigg Boss Tamil are on and the names are yet to be revealed. The show will start its airing from June 25 onwards.
