"Bigg Boss" may be one of the most watched television show, but there is no doubt about the fact that from its very first season, the contestants needs to follow certain rules inside the house.
The contestants need to sign a 23-page-long contract before entering the glass-walled house.
One of such contracts has been obtained by Bollywood Life, which provides summary of some interesting clauses, which the participants have to abide by throughout their stay inside the "Bigg Boss 8" house.
Take a look at certain clauses of "Bigg Boss" that is followed every season.
Signing Amount
Each of the contestants are paid ₹8 lakh, which is payable within the first week of the execution of the contract. In case an inmate gets evicted on the very first week of the show, he/she will get the minimum signing amount.
Weekly Consideration
Contestants are also provided with a weekly consideration apart from the signing amount. Until they get evicted, each of the contestants is awarded with a weekly consideration. Apparently, in last season, Tanishaa Mukerji was paid about ₹8 lakh per week, which was the highest amount received by any of her co-contestants in the season.
Tenure of Contract
For 117 days, a "Big Boss" participant should completely be available to the producers and broadcasters of the show, Viacom 18. Out of these days, 100 days are occupied for shooting inside the house and the remaining days for preparation, marketing, promotion and promo shoots.
No Interference with Editing of Episodes
Participants can't intrude with editing or altering any part of the episode. Hence, any assaulting or sexual harassment inside the house by a particular contestant will be shown on TV as per the makers wish.
Identity of Co-Contestants
A contestant doesn't have the liberty of knowing the identity of his/her co-contestant. It is known that "Bigg Boss 8" contestant Minissha Lamba and Arya Babbar had discussed about their "Bigg Boss" journey before entering the house, which is a clear violation of the clause.
No Room for Criminal Convictions unless Notified
Celebrities involved in criminal cases are not allowed to participate in "Bigg Boss", unless they notify to the broadcasters. So celebrities and ex-"Bigg Boss" contestants - Monica Bedi, Rahul Mahajan, Abbas Kazmi, Devender and Aseem Trivedi, who were convicted for criminal offences in some way or the other, had revealed their identity to the makers before entering the house.
No Books Allowed
Participants are not allowed to carry any reading material including holy books inside the house. The makers will provide scriptures or holy books to contestants who need them.
No Communication with Media after Selection
Contestants don't have the liberty to communicate with the media about their selection. In case they reveal, the makers have the authority to remove his/her participation from the show.
Penalty for Quitting Midway
If a contestant leaves the show midway, he/she has to pay a penalty of ₹50 lakh. When Mahajan made his choice of quitting the "Bigg Boss 2", he was asked to pay the fine.
