Aarya Babbar, who gained fame with his stint in the most controversial reality show "Bigg Boss 8", is set to revive his acting career. The actor is set to make his small screen acting debut with a new daily soap "Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman".
Aarya will be seen playing the role of Raavan in the mythological show, which will be aired on Sony television starting 4 May.
Talking about his new venture, the actor told IANS: "I've always been fascinated by the character of Raavan. I believe he is the most colourful character ever created. Every human emotion is so well depicted in his life span,"
"I've read books like 'Asura' (Anand Neelakantan) and seen plays like 'Agyaat Raavan' which helped me understand what this powerful, intelligent and intense demon was going through," said Aarya.
"'Asura', the book, has helped me understand what Raavan's story was, how he became the 'Lankeshwar' he was called. It also helped me in depicting that quality in my performance," he added.
During his stay inside the glass-walled Bigg Boss house, Aarya got involved in some major controversies. Initially, viewers were shocked when Aarya's co-contestant Minissha Lamba revealed that the former had a game plan before entering the house.
According to the rules of "Bigg Boss", contestants cannot meet each other or make any contact with others before entering the house, but the actress narrated that Aarya had planned a fake romance with her before entering the show.
On the other hand, Aarya told his co-contestants that it was Minissha who had called him up and insisted him to play safe with her, while they shared the same roof in the house.
Later on the show, Aarya had a heated argument with Puneet Issar, who punched him during a task. The violence made Puneet take an exit from the show but was given a chance to redeem himself. Aarya, who felt Puneet's re-entry was unfair, created a scene on the show.
