Reality show contestant Armaan Kohli has been taken away by the police based on evicted contestant Sofia Hayat's complaint.
Sofia had made a complaint against the actor for physical assault and defamation. Based on the British singer's complaint, the Lonavala police arrested Armaan from the Bigg Boss house on Monday.
Sofia had initially lodged a complaint with the Santacruz police station.
"Following the complaint by Hayat, an FIR was registered against co-contestant Armaan Kohli," Arun Chavan, senior inspector at Santacruz police station told PTI.
As per police officials, Armaan has been booked under multiple offences, sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) 506 (criminal intimidation) and 354 a (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code.
The singer cum actress had also hinted that a complaint may be filed against the channel and show makers next, for failing to take adequate action against Armaan, despite his violent streak. Sofia believes that the channel and the show makers have been protecting Armaan for television ratings.
"A 6 feet two inches man (Armaan) hit me on my face with a stick. I thought he will be evicted but he was not. He is a very violent and aggressive person. He should not be given a second chance to hit any other woman. I don't want to teach him a lesson. I just want to do what is right," read Sofia's statement, according to NDTV.
"I want Armaan to go to jail for at least a month. He should be punished. The world needs to know that India will not tolerate this behaviour, India stands behind its women."
Armaan and Sofia had quite a few nasty brawls inside the Bigg Boss house, where the former was recorded making personal comments on the singer. The situation got tense when the actor accidentally hit her in the face with a mopstick.
