Sonia Kruger, best known as the host of "Big Brother Australia" and "Mornings", announced on Twitter that she has given birth to a baby girl. She even revealed the name of their child, much to the delight of her fans.
Kruger posted the photo of a pair of tiny booties with the caption: "Guess what...they fit! Little Maggie Kruger McPherson born this morning."
Forty-nine-year-old Kruger and her partner TV executive Craig McPherson have been trying to start a family for a while now and Maggie's birth marks the end of a long and challenging wait. During her appearance in "A Current Affair" in August 2014, Kruger had revealed that hers is not a natural pregnancy and that she had borrowed an egg from a friend.
"I have a very good friend who gave me an egg and that's how this pregnancy came about. ... When you get to my age – to use your own eggs to have a baby you're not really going to be successful – I mean the odds are at around one in a million to get there and my doctors have been very clear with me, because I'd been through IVF before," Mama Mia quoted her as saying.
Naturally, when she announced the happy news, most people were thrilled for the couple.
"Such happy news!", "congratulations, brilliant news x", "so so thrilled for you Krugs!", "welcome to the world Maddie" and "welcome to the best week of your life!!" were some of the encouraging and congratulatory comments well-wishers made in response to the announcement.
Lisa Campbell, wife of Kruger's "Mornings" co-host David Campbell, had given birth to a pair of twins earlier this month. Kruger took the opportunity to congratulate them by posting a photo of the twins and captioning it, "Congratulations to my lovely friends @davidcampbell73 and @lisaluckiest on the birth of their beautiful babies - Billy and Betty."
Campbell returned the favour on around 3am (IST) on Sunday, by posting the photo of a glowing Kruger holding baby Maggie, with the caption: "Massive congratulations to our dear friends @soniakruger and Craig McPherson on the birth of their daughter (and my future daughter-in-law) Maggie."
