The official synopsis for season 9, episode 1 of "The Big Bang Theory" was recently released online, and it shows that Amy and Sheldon are yet to patch up following their break-up.
The first episode of the season is entitled "The Matrimonial Momentum" -- in reference to Leonard and Penny's wedding -- and it hints that Sheldon might not be as enthusiastic about Leonard and Penny's wedding, since he is dealing with his own relationship problems.
The synopsis reads: "After driving to Vegas to get married, Penny struggles with Leonard's confession that he kissed another girl. Also, Sheldon doesn't know how to act after Amy pushes pause on their relationship, on the ninth season premiere of The Big Bang Theory."
According to the extended plot summary available on bigbangtheory.wikia, Sheldon will approach Amy and try to sort out their differences. But Amy will be in no mood to deal with Sheldon, who hasn't yet comprehended why his girlfriend is miffed with him.
To make matters worse, the premiere episode will see Sheldon making a condescending comment about Amy's biological clock ticking away, and this will force Amy to end her relationship with Sheldon for good.
Although Amy is heartbroken by the sudden turn of events, she is expected to have a new suitor. Stuart, the former comic book store owner who has become a permanent house guest in Mrs Wolowitz's home, will try to hit on Amy in the premiere episode.
"The Flaming Spittoon Acquisition", an episode in the fifth season of the sitcom, saw Stuart expressing a wish to date Amy, and the duo even going out for a movie. But Sheldon comes in between and decides to take his relationship with Amy to the next level, forcing Amy to ditch Stuart.
In "The Matrimonial Momentum", Stuart apparently makes a comment about other men being best suited for Amy, and he event puts his hand on her shoulder. However, Amy will be too distressed to take Stuart seriously.
Will Amy and Stuart get together in future? At present, Amy isn't in the right frame of mind to think about Stuart as a romantic partner. But he could turn out to be a strong contender for Amy's feelings if Sheldon doesn't let go of his ego and make things right with Amy.
