Salman Khan fans were in for a treat this Independence Day. At 12 noon today, Aug 15, Salman Khan shared the first teaser of his magnum opus Bharat, in which he plays the titular role.
Bharat is another name for India and the film chronicles different eras in the country's history. A remake of the Korean film Ode to My Father, Bharat will see Salman Khan in different get-ups according to the era being showcased.
Priyanka Chopra, who was supposed to play the lead role, backed out of the project allegedly because of her engagement to Nick Jonas and a new Hollywood film with Chris Pratt which is currently on hold. Katrina Kaif replaced Priyanka Chopra in the film which also stars Disha Patani, Nora Fatehi, Tabu and comedian Sunil Grover.
"Kuch Rishte Zameen se hote hai, Aur kuch Khoon se.. Mere Paas Dono Thee ! कुछ रिश्ते ज़मीन से होते है, और कुछ खून से.. मेरे पास दोनो थे !" said Salman Khan on Twitter, sharing the teaser of Bharat. He tagged the cast of the film, Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Nora Fatehi, Tabu and Sunil Grover, as also director Ali Abbas Zafar, co-producer Atul Agnihotri of Reel Life Production and the company's CEO Nikhil Namit.
T-Series is also on board for this film while Salman Khan Films (SKF) has co-produced Bharat with Reel Life Production.

The teaser of Bharat has a voiceover by Salman Khan, but the actor is not seen in the frame. Salman says to background music, "Bauji kehte the, kuch rishtey zameen se hote hain aur kuch rishtey, khoon se. Mere paas, dono hee the." The teaser then shows the map of India with the tagline, 'A journey of a man and a nation together'.
We hope to see more such teasers from the makers, even as the shoot is on.
Bharat is slated to release on Eid 2019. A lot of Salman Khan films in the past few years have released on the occasion of Eid and have been hits.
Earlier in the day, Salman Khan wished fans on the occasion of Independence Day 2018, saying, "Wishing sab ko a v happy independence day. B financially independent but try n remain emotionally dependent, all the happiness n success to all . #HappyIndependenceDay2018".
