Saumya Tandon, who has been entertaining viewers as the charming Anita Bhabhi on "Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!," has taken a short break from her work schedule to attend the ongoing 69th Cannes Film Festival.
"Saumya had applied for this leave from the show well in advance to plan her trip. She has shot for all her scenes and packed off last night to travel to Cannes," Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) quoted a source from the production house as saying.
Besides being an actress, Saumya is also an entrepreneur with a venture called 1018mb, which allows movie lovers across the world to watch any film of their choice at big screens at any point of time and at any location. Being a movie enthusiast, Saumya hopes to connect with the film fraternity across the world at the Cannes Film Festival.
"She considers herself as a fan of all kinds of cinema, hence feels Cannes is an apt festival to connect with film fraternity across the world," the source added.
So far, Bollywood celebrities Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Anurag Kashyap have made appearances at the 69th Cannes Film Festival. Saumya will, however, not make an appearance on the red carpet of the movie gala.
Besides Saumya, television actors Avika Gor and Manish Raisinghan have also flown to Cannes. The reel life couple's short film, "Ankahee Baatein" was accepted for the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival 2016. "Ankahee Baatein" will be available in the video library of the event from May 16 to May 22.
