The teaser of Anushka Shetty's Bhaagamathie (Bhagamathi) was released online last night. The first look video has increased the curiosity around the story of this highly-anticipated film.
Post Baahubali, Anushka Shetty is considered as the lady superstar of south Indian cinema. Since Bhaagamathie will be her next release after Baahubali 2, there is a lot of hype around it. UV Creations, which is bankrolling the film, recently announced that the movie will be released as Republic Day treat on January 26, 2018.
The teaser begins with the visuals of a deserted palatial house. A man wearing slippers enters the house with a bleeding toe. Then it cuts to glimpses of the dusted bungalow. A woman with a torch in her hand is seen searching for something.
Finally, we get to see Anushka Shetty, who is holding a hammer in one hand, while her other hand is nailed on to the wall. She is hitting the nail with the hammer and her blood spills all over the wall.
The haunting visuals and chilling background music are the highlights of the teaser. However, the teaser does not offer many hints at its story and other characters in the movie. But it has definitely heightened the craze around the movie.

The teaser of Bhaagamathie kept the audience and critics on their toes not just in South but also in north India. Bollywood film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted: "The mood. The visuals. The background score ... #BhaagamathieTeaser makes an impression... Stars #Baahubali actress Anushka Shetty... Directed by Ashok... In Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam... 26 Jan 2018 release..."
Bhaagamathie is written and directed by G Ashok and produced by Vamsi and Pramod under the banner UV Creations. Anushka Shetty is playing the titular role in the movie while Unni Mukundan and Jayaram appear in key roles. Asha Sarath, Prabhas Srinu, Murali Sharma, Vidyullekha Raman and Dhanraj are also in the supporting cast.
