Sports biopic, "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag", has proved to be a runaway success at the domestic box office after earning ₹79 crore within two weeks of its release.
Farhan Akhtar starrer continued to dominate at the box office in the last two weeks despite the release of two films - "Ramaiya Vastavaiya" and "D-Day".
The two weeks collection of "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" stands at ₹79.79 crore.
"#BhaagMilkhaBhaag collected approx ₹26.05 cr in Week 2. Grand total: ₹79.79 cr. Super Hit," tweeted trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
The sports biopic still needs to earn ₹21 crore to join the elite century club, and it is expected to rake in moolah in the third week too as there are no major releases this week.
More than four films have hit the screens this week but none of them had a good opening. "Ramaiya Vastavaiya" and "D-Day", which were released last week, is not affecting the collections of "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag".
"The Milkha Singh biopic continued to stay ahead of all films that were screened at the box office," trade analyst Amod Mehra said.
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's directorial venture is also getting tax incentives from government which will also help in the box office collections.
After Maharashtra, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh, Goa government has now made "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" tax free.
"Normally, many families wait for a good film to come on cable television and other platforms. But, now with the tax exemption, the ticket prices will fall and more people will come to theatres to watch the film," Mehra told Hindustan Times.
