Farhan Akhtar-Sonam Kapoor starrer "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" has done fantastic business not just in India, but also in the overseas markets.
"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" has raked in about ₹20 crore in key markets including UK, USA-Canada, UAE-GCC and Australia.
"#BhaagMilkhaBhaag combined total from UK, USA-Canada, UAE-GCC and Australia - just these four sectors - is close to Rs 20 crores. Super Hit!" film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film is continuing its dream run at the domestic box office as well. It has crossed the ₹100-crore mark, becoming the second highest grosser of 2013 (till date), next to "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" ("YJHD") starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
At the end of the fourth weekend, Farhan's film raked in approximately ₹104 crore in India. Its overall business has been really good, particularly in north circuits.
The film grossed more than ₹100 crore in 24 days. In comparison, it took only seven days for "YJHD" to cross the mark. However, "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" beat "Race 2" which took 63 days to earn a ton.
This is the first major hit for Farhan as a solo actor. He has been part of multi-starrers including "Rock On" and "Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara" that have performed well at the box office. Interestingly, Farhan is the only person to feature in the ₹100-crore club as a director (Don 2), producer ("Don 2") and actor ("Bhaag Milkha Bhaag").
The sports biopic is still being screened in several theatres across the globe. The film remains to be the first choice of the public, despite several new releases in the last two weeks. However, its business is expected to see a drastic drop from this Friday (9 August), when Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" will hit theatres.
"Chennai Express" is gearing up for a massive release in more than 4,000 screens worldwide. The film's makers are targetting the Eid weekend to get 100 percent occupancy.
