Romantic comedy film "Bewakoofiyaan" failed to make an impact at the domestic box office on its opening day.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Sonam Kapoor's film had performed below par on the foremost day. The rom-com opened with low occupancy in morning shows.
The flick which also features Rishi Kapoor in the main roles had opened with only 20 to 25 percent occupancy in theaters across the country.
The film was expected to pick up pace during the evening and night shows, but it failed to do so.
On first Friday, "Bewakoofiyaan" made an income of around ₹ 2.23 crore nett, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Mutliplexes from major cities has contributed the most, while single screens was dull. To have a good opening weekend, the film needs to pick up its pace. But considering the public response and reviews, it is unlikely that the film will show growth at the box office.
Even some of the reviews were not in favour of the film which affected the opening day collection.
Aniruddha Guha in his review said that "The multiplex ticket money, as "Bewakoofiyaan" itself points out, is way too precious to be blown away on the film."
Meanwhile, the film which is produced under Yash Raj banner is expected to earn the production cost in first week, if the film fetches high figures during weekend.
With no major competition except for the "Queen," the film is expected to earn decent amount on Saturday and Sunday.
