Tollywood churned out several item numbers in 2016, and 13 of them, featuring popular actresses, impressed the audience and created a lot of buzz on the internet this year.

Pakka Local from Jr NTR's Janatha Garage was the most loved and watched Telugu item song of 2016. The song, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, written by Ramajogayya Sastry and sung by Geetha Madhuri and Sagar, featured popular actress Kajal Aggarwal dancing with Jr NTR. 

Tauba Tauba from Sardaar Gabbar Singh, Blockbuster from Sarrainodu, and Door No 1 from Oopiri were the other hit numbers of the year. Their music videos created a lot of buzz on the internet. Raai Laxmi, Anjali and Nora Fateh sizzled on screen with Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun and Karthi, respectively, in these dance numbers.

Devi Sri Prasad composed the top two item songs of the year, while SS Thaman scored the tunes for five hit item songs. Four of the top songs were written by Ramajogayya Sastry, and Geetha Madhuri sang three of the songs. Hamsa Nandini, Shruti Sodhi, Shraddha Das & Mumaith Khan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Larissa Bonesi, Sakshi Chowdhary were the other actresses the songs were picturised upon.
