India's passenger vehicle segment in July grew by 16.78 percent to 259,685 units. The growth has been driven by new launches such as Vitara Brezza, Baleno and Kwid in different segments. Along with the new comers, long-term best sellers such as Maruti Suzuki Alto, Swift twins, WagonR, Hyundai Grand i10 and Elite i20 also contributed to the overall sales. However, it was the Vitara Brezza that made a huge leap in terms of sales. Usually, the top ten best selling passenger vehicle list comprises of car models only. In July, the Vitara Brezza compact SUV became the sixth best selling passenger vehicle with 10,232 units of sales.
The top deck of the list remains unchanged with the dominance of Maruti Suzuki models. The Alto is the bestselling vehicle of July with 19,844 unit sales. Swift DZire, WagonR and the Swift has secured second, third and fourth positions. Swift Dzire found 16,170 takers, while 15,207 units of the WagonR were sold and the Swift found 13,934 takers in the month.
Hyundai's best seller, the Grand i10, was the fifth best selling passenger vehicle in July with 11,961 units, followed by the Vitara Brezza. Another Hyundai model, the Elite i20, found 9,910 takers in July and secured seventh place. Renault India's best selling model Kwid's sales stood at 9,897 units and it is the eighth best selling model. Ninth and tenth best selling passenger vehicles are Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Omni. Maruti Suzuki sold 9,120 units of the Baleno and 8,564 units of the Omni in the previous month.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is also the best selling SUV of the country at present. Despite being just five months old, the Vitara Brezza clocks over 8,000 average monthly sales.
