Yet another celebrity death has made December perhaps the worst month for Hollywood. Star Wars fans were shocked to learn that Carrie Fisher, who played their favourite chraracter of Princess Leia, passed away. The actress was admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack on board a flight from London to Los Angeles. She was 60. The actress was recently in news for admitting to having an affair with co-star Harrison Ford on the sets of Star Wars.

The Holiday season has not been a great occasion for many in Hollywood. The industry has already witnessed many celebrity deaths. Other stars that bid goodbye this month are listed below:
- George Michael: While Christmas brought in new movies at the cinemas, new trailer launches and happy faces around the world, the music industry woke up to the sad news of George Michael's demise. The British singer died on Christmas Day. Michael's publicist confirmed that the singer "passed away peacefully" in bed at his home. He died from heart failure.
- Ricky Harris: The popular comedian died on December 26, after suffering a heart attack. Musician Snoop Dogg confirmed the news on social media. Harris was known for his satire on Snoop Dogg albums. The comedian made appearances on shows like The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story, Everybody Hates Chris and The Tracy Morgan Show.
- Bernard Fox: The well known TV actor, Bernard Fox, died of a heart failure on December 14. He was 89. While the popular actor is predominantly known for his role of Dr Bombay in the popular TV series (from 1966-72), Fox also starred in other TV shows including The Mummy, Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, The Dyke Van Dyke Show, McHale's Navy and Columbo. The actor was also seen in Titanic.
- Alan Thicke: The popular Canadian actor died of a heart attack on December 13. He suffered a cardiac arrest while he was playing hockey with one of his sons, Carter Thicke. The actor, who was known to play fatherly roles, was seen in sitcoms like Growing Pains, Hope and Gloria, among many other popular shows. Condolences poured in from fans and stars.
- Peter Vaughan: The Game of Thrones actor died at the age of 93 on December 6. The actor played the role of Maester Aemon Targaryen in the HBO fantasy drama. Vaughan is also known for his portrayal of Harry Grout in the series, Porridge. The news left many GoT fans saddened.
- Greg Lake: Legendary prog-rock bassist Greg Lake died on December 6. The singer and guitarist was known to have helped propel prog rock into the mainstream. Informing BBC about his death, Lake's manager said that he died of a "long and stubborn battle with cancer".
- Adrianne Tolsch: Renowned female comedian, Adrianne Tolsch, died on December 7. She was suffering from esophageal cancer. She is best known for emceeing and performing at the Catch a Rising Star comedy club. She has opened acts such as Jay Leno, The Pointer Sisters, Bobby Vinton, Pat Cooper and Billy Crystal. She has also performed in the 1992 Broadway musical and comedy revue 3 From Brooklyn.
