Several low resolution images of the upcoming Bentley Bentayga – scheduled to be officially launched at the 66th Frankfurt motor show starting from 17 September – have surfaced on the Internet.
The pictures are from CarNewsChina.com and seem to be legitimate, considering the imminent launch and the similarity towards the previous EXP 9 F concept, which the Bentayga is based on.
The pictures indicate the Bentayga retains the family design language inspired from the Continental GT and Flying Spur. Like most Bentleys, the large rectangular-rish grille takes the prime spot at the front. The large single round headlamp unit shown on concept has given way to twin headlamps, in typical Bentley fashion. The SUV sports roof rails and a stylish tailgate with a sloping rear window.
The car will ride on the MLB Evo platform that underpins second generation Audi Q7. Previous teaser video from the manufacturer indicated the car will be a full blown off-road machine with four seats, five door combination.
The 2016 Bentayga is expected to use Bentley's new twin-turbo W12 engine that develops estimated power of 542bhp and 700Nm of torque. This also points out the car will be able to run 0-100kmph under 5.0 seconds. Bentley has officially confirmed the 2017 Bentayga will be its first production plug-in hybrid.
Bentley is not only the luxury manufacturer testing the waters in the crossover segment. Lamborghini will unleash the Urus and Aston Martin will bring the DBX crossover concept soon. Maserati is reportedly working on a crossover. Rolls-Royce has also joined the bandwagon with Project Cullinan.
