British luxury carmaker Bentley Motors has launched its first SUV, Bentayga, in India for Rs. 3.85 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The company claims Bentayga is the fastest, and the most powerful, luxurious and exclusive SUV in the world. The company has opened bookings for the SUV in India from December 2015.
Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015, the SUV retains the family design language inspired by the Continental GT and Flying Spur luxury cars. The large rectangular-shaped grille takes the prime spot at the front, which is flanked by twin headlamps, in typical Bentley fashion. The vehicle adds the sporty bits such as LED headlamps, muscular haunches, roof rails and a stylish tailgate with a sloping rear window.
The Bentayga is based on the VW Group's new MLB-Evo platform, which also underpins the new generation Audi Q7. The new SUV measures 5,140mm in length, 2,224mm in width and 1,742mm in height. It comes with 2,995mm wheelbase and kerb weight of 2440kg.
Bentayga boasts of eight-inch touchscreen with gesture control in the interior. It also features head-up display, night vision, park assist, traffic sign recognition on driver assistance front. The interior also boasts of a fine cabin with the detailing in metal, wood and leather.
The SUV is powered by an all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 TSI engine that develops 600bhp at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and a mammoth 900Nm of torque from 1,350 to 4,500rpm mated to ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The SUV sprints 0-100kmph in 4.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of 301kmph.
