Bescom withdraws 4-hour daily load shedding in Bengaluru
With acute shorage of electricity, people of Bengaluru will have to brace for a four-hour daily load shedding in the city from Wednesday, 9 September.
On 4 September, the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom), which is facing a 1200-MW power shortage, had declared three hours of daily power cut from 6am to 9pm in three one-hour instalments.

However, Bescom Managing Director Pankajkumar Pandey told Deccan Herald that the load shedding will be increased to four hours daily from Wednesday as there is a 35% shortage of power.
The power cuts have been caused by a weak monsoon as well as the annual maintenance work being carried out by major central and state generators, a release by Bescom stated.
For rural areas, the power cuts will be for five hours in agricultural feeders, four hours in Niranatara Jyothi feeders and five hours in rural mixed feeders. However, the load shedding will not affect industrial, water supply and essential service feeders, reports said.
