The last meeting between I-League powerhouses Bengaluru FC and Mohun Bagan in the domestic club football league of the country is still fresh in the minds of Indian football fans. The two sides faced in a non-scripted final of a football league season, and the Kolkata giants took home the glory at the end.
This time, however, the 90 minutes of football action between these two sides doesn't hold that much of an importance.
It is only just the start of the I-League 2016, and the season has a long way to go. However, a win on the day will definitely boost the confidence of the two sides, going ahead in the competition. While Bengaluru FC rule the table at the moment with 15 points from seven games, Mohun Bagan remain the only undefeated side in the league so far with 11 points from five games.
A host of star players, from the likes of Bagan's Sony Norde and Jeje Lapekhlua to the likes of Bengaluru FC's Michael Collins and Sunil Chhetri, will be in action on Saturday in Bangalore.
This is no doubt this would be one of the biggest home matches of the season so far for the Blues, and the West Block of the Kanteerava stadium can be expected to make a lot of noise as the game gets under way.
"I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's game. It's going to be an exciting clash and the boys are raring to go," Bengaluru FC defender Shankar said in the pre-match press conference.
