A father and son duo who had stabbed a police officer to death in Nelamangala, Karnataka were arrested on Monday from Maharashtra while attempting to flee to Delhi, reports said.
A team of Bengaluru Police nabbed the two from Nagpur Railway Station with the help of local police.
Harish Babu and Madhu Krishna, both professional motorcycle thieves, had stabbed police sub-inspector S Jagadish to death on 16 October in Nelamangala, on the outskirts of Bangalore.
SI Jagadish, who was chasing the duo, got his leg stuck in a drain and sensing an opportunity, the two stabbed him repeatedly. They also attacked two other police constables before fleeing the spot.
Bengaluru Police had formed several teams to track down the killers, who searching for the duo in various parts of Karnataka besides neighbouring States such as Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
The arrest came after a special team of Bengaluru Police got information in Andhra Pradesh that the killers were headed to Delhi, Alok Mohan, ADGP-State told Times of India.
Based on the information, a lookout notice was issued to the Nagpur Police, who nabbed the two men from a Delhi-bound train, he added.
They will be brought to Bengaluru after compeleting court formalities in Nagpur court, reports said.
