At least two people were killed and six others injured after a couple of coaches of the Guwahati-bound Capital Express train derailed in West Bengal's Alipurduar district on Tuesday evening.
The train, which was travelling from Bihar's Rajendra Nagar to Guwahati in Assam, derailed near the Samuktala Road Station in Alipurduar located around 720 kms from Kolkata around 9 p.m., according to local media reports.
The injured have been sent to a local hospital, while arrangements were made to send the other passengers to Guwahati.
The Northeast Frontier Railway officials said that the engine and the coach adjacent to it were derailed, following which, an accident relief train along with senior railway officials was sent to the spot.
