Italian motorcycle brand Benelli's Indian arm DSK Benelli showcased its new generation motorcycles the BX 250 Motard, TNT Naked T-135, Tornado 302 and the TRK 502 at the Auto Expo 2016. Among these, the launch of three models except the BX 250 Motard were confirmed for 2017 by DSK Benelli. According to new reports, the BX 250 Motard is also heading to the Indian market in 2017 itself.
The dirt bike segment in India is still in its infant stage and this might have led Benelli to do some homework before introducing its product. Having conducted feasibility studies for it, DSK Motowheels has now has confirmed that the two-wheeler will be launched here in 2017, reports Bikewale.
BX 250 Motard, the high-riding, lightweight and slender looking bike, is powered by a 250cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that churns out 25bhp of power at 9000rpm and 21Nm of torque at 7000rpm with a 6-speed gearbox sending power to the rear wheel. Weighing just 135kg, the BX 250 Motard employs 50mm telescopic fork in the front and mono link suspension at the rear. The motorcycle features 280mm disc brake up front and 240mm disc brake at rear.
The BX 250 Motard will be launched with the TNT Naked T-135, a 135-cc minibike. The T-135 is expected to be priced between Rs 1.3-Rs 1.5 lakh. It is powered by 135cc single-cylinder engine tuned to develop 12.6hp at 9,000rpm and 10.8Nm of torque at 7,000rpm mated to five-speed gearbox. Both these vehicles will be the entry-level motorcycle of DSK Benelli India.
Prior to BX 250 Motard and TNT Naked T-135, DSK Benelli will launch the 302R, the fully faired sibling of TNT 300 and TRK 502 adventure tourer. The launch of 302R is expected in January 2017 followed by TRK 502. The launch of BX 250 Motard and TNT Naked T-135 can be expected in March-April.
