Akshay Kumar is all set to bring the real-life story of Nanavati murder case on celluloid, but reports suggest that Aamir Khan too was offered to do a movie on a similar story-line by a different director earlier.
"Neerja" director Ram Madhvani had a well-researched script on a storyline like "Rustom" and had asked Aamir to play the lead in his film, according to SpotboyE. However, the "Dangal" actor had put the offer on hold for quite a long time and the film never saw the light of the day, the report added.
The movie "Rustom" is inspired by the 1959 Nanavanti murder case, in which, Naval Commander KM Nanavati had shot dead his wife's alleged paramour, Prem Ahuja. In other news, Pooja Bhatt is also working on a film titled "Love Affair" that is based on the same subject. However, Pooja had said that "Love Affair" is a sensual drama, showcasing the woman's perspective in the incident.
"We are definitely making "Love Affair." I am happy that "Rustom" is coming before us. It will help me to prepare for our film. Let 10 "Rustoms" be made. Ours is an erotic, sensual drama and very human, and from a woman's perspective. It is not just about the Nanavati case," DNA had quoted Pooja as saying earlier.
The trailer of "Rustom" was released some time back and it had received positive response from the audience. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, "Rustom" is one of the most awaited flicks of this year and features Ileana D'Cruz alongside Akshay among others. The film is slated to be released on Aug. 12.
On the other side, Aamir will next be seen in another much anticipated movie "Dangal." It is a biopic on Indian wrestler Mahaveer Phogat. Aamir plays the lead role. "Dangal" will hit the screens on Dec. 23.
