India have announced a strong squad for the West Indies tour, which comprises five ODIs and one-off T20 international, starting June 23.
Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav have been included in the 15-member squad, which will be led by Virat Kohli. Both the players will be keen to make the most out of the limited overs opportunity in West Indies. They have been doing quite well of late, and Pant's IPL performance seems to have opened the doors for him.
With Pant's inclusion, there are three wicket-keepers for the series. The other two being MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik.
From the current Champions Trophy squad, only Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have been omitted. With the series starting after the ongoing CT, it means that the senior members will not have much time for rest before the series.
One thought that the BCCI selectors would have given chances to youngsters, considering that the other members of the team have had a busy home season. After a hard and long home season, they were involved in IPL 2017, followed by Champions Trophy.
However, one is not aware of India coach for the series. Kumble's contract as India coach comes to an end with the ongoing Champions Trophy. He has been given the option of staying as coach till the West Indies series after which it remains to be seen if Kumble will hold the position or a new coach gets a go ahead.
