Battered baby Falak, who shocked the whole country with the brutality she received, died at AIIMS Hospital, Delhi, on Thursday evening after battling for life for two months. She died of heart attack.
Falak's shocking tale came to the fore when she was brought to AIIMS on January 18 by a 14-year-old girl in a bruised and battered condition with severe head injuries, arms fractures and human bite marks all over her body. The teenage girl initially claimed to be Falak's mother but later confessed that she was handed over the child by a man named Rajkumar Gupta, who is the main accused in the case.
The battered baby had been battling for life ever since she was hospitalized. She underwent brain surgery, and doctors tried to save her by conducting more surgeries. However, her health was inconsistent and she finally passed away.
The police had tracked down Falak's 22-year-old biological mother Munni, who claimed that she run away last year after the man she married forced her into prostitution. The police have also found Falak's elder sister and her five-year-old brother.
Ten people, including the main accused Rajkumar Gupta, have been arrested by the police in the case.
