Australian actor Callan Mulvey is neither confirming nor denying his participation in "Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice," as he has been sworn to secrecy by director Zack Snyder and the production house.
But that hasn't stopped rumors from stating that Mulvey has been cast as Batman's nemesis, Joker.
"Ummm. I can't talk about it," said Mulvey to TMZ in a video when asked about the possibility of him playing Joker. "I can't say anything, man. I'm sworn to secrecy. You're going to have to wait and see."
In an earlier press release announcing the cast, director Snyder revealed that Mulvey has been cast to play an important character in the movie.
"I just had the good fortune to work with Callan on 300: Rise of an Empire and was very impressed with his incredible talent. He's a fantastic actor and I'm looking forward to having the chance to work with him again," said Snyder in the press release on 3 April, according to Comic Book News.
The production house is yet to reveal if Mulvey will be Joker, or if Joker is going to feature in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." But cinematographer Larry Fong had earlier hinted the possibility when he posted on his Twitter account a picture of a card wedged inside foam.
Although it is not immediately known if Joker will feature in the movie, actor Adrien Brody has reportedly expressed an interest to play the role of a villain in the superhero action movie.
Several years ago, he lost the role of the Joker to Heath Ledger, and he wants a second chance.
"I would do it if I feel I can contribute something valuable and that the role would be interesting to me because they're long journeys," the actor told Metro at the Cannes Film Festival.
"If there is an opportunity to do something like that and play a comic book hero or villain, that's not something I'm fundamentally opposed to," added Brody.
The "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is scheduled for 6 May 2016 and will feature Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Other cast members include Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons.
