"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is slated to be released in 2016. If actor Henry Cavill is to be believed, then it appears Warner Bros is all set to make way for a larger DC movie universe after the big release.
Not just this, latest reports have also pointed out at a possibility of Wonder Woman having a big showdown with Doomsday in "Dawn of Justice".
During his promotional tour for "The Man From U.NC.L.E", Cavill spoke to Uproxx. In the interview, the "Man of Steel" actor has hinted about the future of Warner Bros-DC films.
His response came to a question posed by the website: "From the Batman v Superman trailer that came out at Comic-Con, it did seem like the plot was tied into the destruction Superman causes in "Man of Steel"?
Cavill responded: "There's a big plan in place at WB for the whole DC franchise. So, all of this stuff ties in. They're not thinking from movie to movie, they're thinking from a big tent pole type thing and each story has its own story, which is attached to the major issue. Yeah, there's a big plan."
The website then referred to GIFs comparing "Batman V Superman" and "Man of Steel" and discussed a particular scene where Ben Affleck is in the street watching a building getting torn apart, with Michael Shannon in "Man of Steel" actually causing the damage. The two GIFs match perfectly. To this, Cavill hinted that "you will see a lot of it as we go forward."
The interview asked another question: "I was wondering about that in the trailer! I was like, that is a big building that just got chopped in half. And that's from "Man of Steel"?
Cavill said, "That's when Zod loses his mind and can't control his heat vision and blasts everything out."
Well, it looks Warner Bros indeed has big plans for the DC franchise.
Meanwhile, the second official trailer for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is out. The trailer gives fans a glimpse of Wonder Woman fighting an opponent. Though it's not clear who it is, Heroic Hollywood assumes that it is Doomsday — one of Superman's most powerful enemies.
There have been various rumours about Doomsday appearing in the film as the main villain along with Lex Luthor. In fact, some reports have also claimed that Lex Luthor will use General Zod's body to create Doomsday.
Now, this report has apparently confirmed the rumour by pointing out that the opponent Wonder Woman is fighting is none other than Doomsday. The website said that Gal Gadot has an integral scene featuring the big showdown with Doomsday.
During the fight, Wonder Woman is standing at one end and Doomsday at the other. Wonder Woman takes out her sword and swings it at Doomsday, chopping of his hands.
Now, whether it is Doomsday or not will be known only when "Batman V Super: Dawn of Justice" releases on 23 March, 2016.
