The next installment of Zack Snyder's DC Extended Universe (DCEU), "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," is all set release in the theatres across the world on March 25, and the Internet is flooded with numerous rumours and spoilers regarding the movie.
One such speculation is about the role of Aquaman (portrayed by Jason Momoa). While some fans are suggesting it would be just a cameo, others are sure his role will eventually lead to the foundation of the "Justice League."
According to Movie Pilot, writer Chris Terrio has hinted that even though Aquaman will be a prominent part of the upcoming DC superhero team, it doesn't mean he will make his way in smoothly as there "might be some bad blood between Aquaman and Wonder Woman."
As reported by Collider, producer Deborah Snyder has said in an interview that even though the movie will emphasise on the conflict between the two titular heroes, other characters like Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Flash will also appear in the movie. However, she didn't reveal whether the other characters will just be in a cameo role or will play any significant part in the movie.
There is a chance that Aquaman will have a more important role than just a cameo as in the final trailer of the movie, Lois Lane (portrayed by Amy Adams) can be seen drowning and there is a significant possibility that Aquaman will come to her rescue.
Aquaman's involvement in "Dawn of Justice" might compel Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) to consider finding the whereabouts of other such people with extraordinary powers, and this is how he might get the idea of forming the "Justice League." If that happens, Aquaman's role in the movie is surely going to act as a milestone for the "Justice League."
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ben Affleck discussed the role of Bruce Wayne and how he sees the superheroes — called "metahumans" in the movie — as assets rather than threats.
"It inspires in him the idea that well, if there's one of these kinds of people out there, then maybe there are, in fact more. If there are more, then maybe that's hopeful and also terrifying to him, because then they could make humans even more powerless — or they could serve on our side," Affleck said.
Though Affleck didn't specifically mention Aquaman, it might happen that after meeting him, Superman and Wonder Woman, Batman will plan a team of such superheroes who can serve as the ultimate saviour of humanity. Whether that is the case will become apparent only once the movie releases.
"Batman v Super: Dawn of Justice" is scheduled to release March 25 in North America in 2D, 3D, 4DX, IMAX 3D, premium large formats and 70 mm prints.
