In the forgettable 1997's "Batman & Robin" movie, we had seen Alicia Silverstone playing the character of Barbara Wilson who goes on to play Batgirl. Wilson is the niece of Batman's trusted butler, Alfred Pennyworth.
However, the question of who the identity of the Batgirl was officially cleared after Sefton Hill, game director of Arkham Knight clarified via his post. He tweeted before conceding that he was busy and the game is getting close to completion, "As a few of you have asked about the DLC, 'who is Batgirl?' I can confirm it is indeed Barbara Gordon."
Many fans have also felt that Joker will be part of the game after the Barbara Gordon confirmation.
Joker had paralysed Gordon, and she later went on to become the Oracle, according to "The Killing Joke" comic. Throughout the Arkham series, Oracle has been Batman's contact, Attack of the Fanboy reported.
The Batgirl DLC will be a prequel to Batman: Arkham Knight, since the events would have been much earlier.
Batman: Arkham Knight releases on 23 June for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
