German football veteran Bastian Schweinsteiger on Tuesday married tennis pin-up girl Ana Ivanovic in a gala event in Venice, attended by their friends, family and other sports stars. The couple have known each other for two years.
Schweinsteiger, 31, a part of the Die Mannschaft side during the Euro 2016 tournament in France which concluded just days back, looked elegant in a classy black blazer, while Ivanovic, 28, stole the show in a beautiful white frilled halter-neck gown. Her gown flowed down to a ruffled skirt and a stylish pair of white satin heels completed her elegant wedding day ensemble.
Neither of them have made an official statement following tying the knot but pictures flooded social media once the couple completed their ceremony at the Venice City Hall, also known as Palazzo Cavalli. The married couple was then pictured embarking on a jetty to sail across the Venice canal for a long night of celebration.
While there has been no confirmation, it is reported that tennis stars Angelique Kerber and Wimbledon 2016 Andy Murray, along with Schweinsteiger's compatriot and teammate Thomas Muller were present in the event.
The Schweinsteiger-led Germany side crashed out of Euro 2016 after reaching the semifinals of the tournament. Ivanovic, meanwhile, had to exit from the first round of Wimbledon 2016, which took place around the same time. The Serbian won the French Open in 2008.
