Salman Khan's commercial blockbuster "Ek Tha Tiger" collection at the box office widow is tamed down by "Barfi" and "Raaz 3", making its proceedings slow in achieving its ₹2 billion feat.
Ek Tha Tiger had a magnificent start at the Bollywood box office, rallying strong till its fourth week without being troubled by the new releases. However, now the movie-goers' preferences have seemingly changed with the release of "Barfi" and "Raaz 3".
"Ek Tha Tiger" collected ₹800,000 on Friday, ₹1.1 million on Saturday and ₹2 million on Sunday, taking the grand total on its fifth weekend to ₹198.78 billion, as reported by trade analyst Taran Adarsh. However, the film is still considered as an all-time blockbuster.
Salman's film is indeed expected to breach the record of Aamir Khan's 2009 smash-hit "3 Idiots", which collected about ₹2 billion in Indian markets.
The Bollywood film industry witnessed great business between mid-April and mid-September. Adarsh said that the back-to-back hits - "Ek Tha Tiger", "Raaz 3" and "Barfi" - have contributed about ₹297.68 billion for the film industry.
Adarsh tweeted, "Ek Tha Tiger- 198.78 cr + 'Raaz 3' - 64.30 cr + 'Barfi' - 34.60 cr. Just these 3 films have contributed Rs 297.68 cr nett biz in 1 month."
Kareena Kapoor's upcoming "Heroine" and Akshay Kumar's next "Oh My God" are expected to continue the bullish trend of Bollywood.
