More than 20 government banks will be recruiting about 19,000 clerks via the common written examination (CWE) conducted annually by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).
The CWE will be in two parts — preliminary and main. Candidates can apply online from August 22, 2016 to September 12, 2016, no other mode of application will be accepted.
Banks that will be hiring candidates include UCO Bank, Punjab National Bank, Dena Bank, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Syndicate Bank, Vijaya Bank, ECGC, Central Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank and Export Import Bank of India.
State Bank of India (SBI) and its associate banks are not part of the recruitment drive.
The recruitment will be spread across India and the vacancies are more in states such as Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
The allocation of candidates will be based on certain parameters and needs of the banks.
"Depending on the vacancies to be filled in during the financial year 2017-18 based on the business needs of the Participating Organisations (banks) and as reported to IBPS, candidates shortlisted will be provisionally allotted to one of the Participating Organisations keeping in view the spirit of Govt. Guidelines on reservation policy, administrative convenience," the IBPS said in a notification.
"The validity for CWE Clerks-VI will automatically expire at the close of business on 31.03.2018 with or without giving any notice," it added.
