Now a solution to help Indians tap the history of the used car will help them stay out of any possible fraud. A new website, CheckCar.in, may become a nightmare for those dealers who try to withhold important information from prospective buyers.

The website developed by two Bangalore-based engineers will now provide buyers information ranging from insurance details, history of accidents, mechanical problems, engine condition, unpaid fines and details about where the car received service, by just entering the vehicle number in the site.

The vehicle history reporting service also provides varied data points regarding the vehicle by getting details via several sources and also helps to gauge the vehicle' actual worth. The website also assures to appoint an auto evaluation expert to physically inspect the vehicle and perform deep analysis using advanced tools which are assured to be unbiased and highly computerized, striking off any chances of manipulation from the seller's part.

According to a DNA report, two former general managers of Wipro - Naresh Khanduri and Ritwik Batabyal, are behind CheckCar.in. The website is an initiative by Ttava Innovation Labs owned by the same young entrepreneurs.

Ttatva's concept was first shaped at the NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning located within 100 acres of Indian institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore campus.

Speaking about the potential of the used car industry, Khanduri said that cars have shifted from the status of being a luxury item to an essential requirement.  "When  for every new car that is sold, three used car gets traded, it implies that cars have transited from being mere luxury products to necessities," he told DNA.

He and Batabyal assure that the used car history check along with a physical test will cost ₹1,499 at the most. The service will be launched in June.
