The box office collection of Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif's action drama "Bang Bang" has failed to cross the ₹100 crore mark in India in its opening weekend.
Despite having an extended holiday weekend, the film failed to enter the ₹100 crore club in India. "Bang Bang" also failed to beat the record of Roshan's last film, "Krrish 3", in India.
"Krrish 3" released during last Diwali and minted ₹108.71 crore in four days, but "Bang Bang" missed the mark.
In India, Roshan starrer accumulated ₹94.13 crore and is expected to cross the ₹100 crore mark by Monday.
"#BangBangMovie update : Collects ₹22.41 cr nett on Sunday. Totals ₹94.13 cr. (134.47 cr gross) in India over 4 days. RT Now," Fox Star tweeted.
Here is the four day break-up of the film: Thursday (opening day) ₹27.54 crore, Friday ₹24.08 crore, Saturday ₹20.1 crore and Sunday ₹22.41 crore.
The film opened well on Thursday, but the collection declined on the second day. The box office collection of the film, as expected, showed growth but it was minimal.
However, on a positive note, "Bang Bang" surpassed the lifetime business of films like Akshay Kumar's "Entertainment" (₹72.02 crore), Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor's "Gunday" (₹78.60 crore) and Varun Dhawan's "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" (₹76.81 crore).
Also, the worldwide figure of the film has crossed ₹150 crore mark. According to the production house, "Bang Bang" has taken its four days worldwide total, which includes domestic gross earnings, to ₹175.6 crore.
"#BangBangMovie update: ₹175 .6 cr gross worldwide in 4 days. ₹41.14 cr in overseas over the weekend - highest opener of 2014. #BangBangRecords," Fox Star tweeted.
The collection is now reaching towards ₹200 crore mark (gross) at the worldwide box office. "Bang Bang" will be the second film of the year to earn ₹200 crore mark after Salman Khan's "Kick".
But it remains to seen whether the net earnings of the film will cross the ₹200 crore mark in India.
