It seems that the #BanChineseProducts campaign on social media has just not remained another rubber-stamp effort as India-based Intex technologies has announced the launch of ultra-affordable 4G-LTE phones called the Intex Aqua Craze 2 and Intex Aqua 5.5 VR to rival cheap Chinese-branded smartphones which still continue to circulate in the Indian market. USP of Intex's latest offerings is that they are compatible with Reliance Jio's 4G Jio SIM-card.
Cost-wise, the Intex Aqua Craze 2 is priced at Rs.5990 whereas the Aqua 5.5 VR costs Rs.5100. The latter will be available as a Flipkart-exclusive from Oct.19 and the former will be available for purchase via physical retail stores across India.
Both of Intex's newest offerings attract, not because that they possess ground-breaking technical specs, but due to the fact that the new release comes at a time when there is a strong negative sentiment for China-made and China-branded products (especially smartphones) in India. Technology lovers are advocating for India-branded smartphones, and the timing of Intex launch of Aqua Craze 2 and Aqua 5.5 VR could not have come at a more opportune time.
