Geneva, July 14: Shouting slogans to make the world aware of growing human rights violations in Balochistan. On June 25, representatives of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP), a nationalist party, held a demonstration outside the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. Joined by Baloch Diaspora from other European countries, they opposed the ongoing military operation in Balochistan and rising incidents of enforced disappearances of political leaders and educated youth by Pakistan's spy agencies. BRP president Brahamdagh Bugti sought international intervention to stop the genocide in Balochistan. The Baloch blames Pakistan for forcefully occupying their territory since 1948. Pakistan's biggest yet least populated province, Balochistan shares its borders with Afghanistan and Iran and has rich mineral reserves. Pakistani security agencies are indulging in enforced disappearances and killings of Baloch intellectuals to keep control over the territory. However, the Baloch are fighting to seek independence from its occupiers and want an end to colonial rule.
